Oostende started off the new season with the 73-66 win against Limburg United.
Oostende got off to a good start and quickly jumped ahead to a 13-3 lead before Limburg finally found their rhythm and closed the gap and after a strong second quarter they actually jumped ahead for the 36-38 score at the half. In the second half both teams initially stayed close until a three by Buysse put Oostende back in front and headed into the final quarter they held on to a 4 point lead (55-51). 4 unanswered points by Desiron and another 3 by Buysse gave Oostende the 64-53 lead in the opening minutes of the 4th quarter, a lead they were able to retain until the buzzer sounded for the 73-66 final score.
Shevon Thompson was the top-performer for Oostende with 10 pts & 8 rebs but the top-scorer was newcomer MiKyle McIntosh as he finished with 19 pts, getting 7-9 from the FT-line. Youngster Simon Buysse had an excellent start of his season as he dropped 12 pts and added 3 rebs & 3 asts, while Yannick Desiron also finished in double-figures with 10 pts.
Matt Rafferty was the main performer for the visitors with his 11 pts & 6 rebs. Other newcomers Jared Wilson-Frame (11 pts & 4 rebs) and Tookie Brown (11 pts & 5 asts) also finished in double figures for Limburg. Niels Marnegrave did a solid job from behind the arc and drained 3/6 from long-range for his total of 9 pts.
