Hans Vanwijn signs with Dijon

It’s becoming somewhat of a tradition in Belgian basketball that the Belgian Player of the Year moves abroad the following season and Hans Vanwijn is continuing that trend as he has now signed a deal with Dijon (France) for the upcoming season.

“I’ve been following Vanwijn for the past 2 seasons after we’ve encountered him in the Champions League during the 2018-’19 season. This player – who can play the 3 and 4 – has shown a lot of potential. A potential he confirmed last season when he became the Belgian Player of the Year. His athletic and technical abilities seem very compatible with my philosophies and should fit well in the French competition.” – Laurent Legname (Coach from Dijon)

“I’m very happy for Hans. I think he will fit well in the French League. It’s a fairly physical league but Hans can handle that. At the moment Dijon is in first place along with Monaco and my team (Lyon), so it’s obviously a very good team; they beat us in the Leaders Cup finals in Paris. I’m very happy for Hans, not in the least because Dijon is not that far from Lyon.” – Ismael Bako

Congratulations Hans and good luck.
