Klay Thompson Suffers Leg Injury, Warriors Pick James Wiseman

Golden State Warriors superstar Klay Thompson sustained a lower right leg injury during a workout in Southern California on Wednesday. According to multiple reports, Thompson will undergo a series of tests to find out the severity of the injury.

It’s apparently a serious injury as sources said that Thompson “was unable to place weight on his lower leg injury.” Team insiders added that the injury “didn’t look good.”

This injury may sideline Thompson anew after recovering from a 2019 surgery for a torn ACL in his left leg. He suffered his left leg injury during the deciding Game 6 of the 2018-2019 NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors. As a result, he missed the entire 2019-2020 season as he recuperated from surgery.

Prior to Thompson’s latest injury, the Warriors were pleased with how his rehab was coming along. The Warriors were hoping for a return to championship contention with the return of Klay Thompson and Steph Curry. Thompson and Curry are considered by many to be the best shooting backcourt in NBA history. Along with Draymond Green, “The Splash Brothers” were expected to reclaim the Warriors’ prestige after a disheartening 2019-2020 season.

The Golden State Warriors organization selected James Wiseman with the No. 2 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

At 7 ft 1 in (2.16 m) and 247 pounds (112 kg), the 19-year-old Wiseman is highly athletic. He is remarkably quick for his size and would make an effective rim runner.

In the wake of Klay Thompson’s injury, Wiseman will be an important addition to the Warriors’ lineup. Experts believe he’ll fit right in with the Warriors’ style of play.

He’ll be able to ease some of the defensive burden on Draymond Green by beefing up the interior. Wiseman could make opponents take poor shot selections with his size and intimidating presence. He’s also capable of racking up easy points in and around the paint.
