Player Profile: Darnell Snyers

The Leopoldsburg native Snyers saw his first minutes on the court at North Georgia this season after sitting out the previous year due to NCAA rules. And I must say that he definitely showed promise.

Although Darnell started the season fairly slowly, the mature 21 year old guard eventually got some wind underneath his wings and saw his minutes and numbers steadily rising throughout the season as he started 18 out of his 26 total games, averaging a solid 7.1 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 2.1 apg & 0.9 spg in 23.8 mpg. He was especially crafty from behind the arc as he knocked down 43% of his 3pt attempts. Not bad for a freshman with still 3 more years of college ball ahead of him.

Snyers had his best scoring output this season in a loss at Francis Marion (Dec. 19) in which he finished with 22 pts, shooting 6/7 from behind the arc. All in all he scored in double-figures 7 times this season as he helped the Nighthawks to assemble a 14-15 overall record throughout the season. Unfortunately he couldn’t help them get past the Peach Belt Conference Quarter-Finals as they lost it 62-90 to UNC Pembroke.
